Ugh, I've always been a terrible sleeper. And now all the quantified self devices just prove it to me. I'm trying very hard to go to bed earlier, because it doesn't matter when I go to bed, I will be awake at the same time in the morning. It's hit or miss right now :(

He’s 78, so he gets to call me kiddo. It’s pretty funny.?

I was also a sleepwalker as a kid and struggled with my immune imbalance through my 30s. Sleep became my sanctuary and the thing that always helped my body heal. It’s my mental, physical and emotional reset and rejuvenation. Not until I started wearing a tracker was I able to calibrate and attune to a schedule and routine that helps me get the reset my body needs.

Now I do a few more things to help me get the best sleep. I get at least a little exercise everyday. I am careful not to eat dinner too close to bedtime and if I do then I try to take a walk after. I moved all my devices to charge in a room away. I cool my bedroom to <70. I have a routine for my kids to wind down including reading to them. I journal for ~10 minutes to park the busyness of end of day ideas swirling in my brain. I give myself grace to try again for better deeper longer sleep the next night.

I’m curious about the sleep tape. Ear plugs and a mask are a must when I am sleeping somewhere that’s not my bed. I might add the sleep tape 💕

Hi, Jennee. This is so interesting. Do you think better sleep has improved your immune function? Reading your strategies makes me think I should double down on earlier meals and a longer wind down period. Thank you for sharing!

Totally agree, I was sleep deprived for years along with severe stress. I believe this is what led to my diagnosis. I still don’t sleep wonderful but I try to prioritize it much more than I used to. I’m always trying new tricks to try to sleep better. Thanks for your post. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, Paula. I think its only natural for us to review our lives to look for clues. We just have ti be gentle with ourselves. I’ve been reading about sleep and learning that ir takes a long time, and consistency, to get restorative sleep if you havent had it. So lets be patient and gentle with ourselves.
